EBEC is a pretty weird name, isn't it? Well, it has a meaning. The abbreviation stands for European BEST Engineering Competition.
Even though EBEC is an European thing, the idea for it came from Canada. There, engineering competitions have been around for many years.
Organised by BEST (Board of European Students of Technology), it's the biggest engineering contest in Europe, taking place in 32 countries.
A team of 4 students competes in 1 of 2 categories: Case Study (theoretical solution for a problem) or Team Design (developing a product).
Competition has a 3-level structure: Local, National/Regional and European Final. Winning teams from each round advance to the next level.
2014 edition of EBEC was the biggest so far, with 87 top European technical universities involved, and more than 6500 students competing.
Starting a career? Many big global brands are EBEC partners and being among Europe's best student engineers will certainly boost your CV.
