Our story
We are the makers of Edgar. A young yet experienced team of designers, storytellers and developers. Founded by Damjan Obal, with Human-Computer Interaction PhD, Maruša Novak, a renowned intermedia artist and illustrator, and a tech guru, Marko Zabreznik. Edgar is made up of a team of six with more than 100 storytellers and creatives in our internal network. We are a unique breed where user experience design meets brand storytelling, and illustration meets agile development.
In the past 10 years we have been building interactive products and services for brands such as CNN, Associated Press, Mayo Clinic and Rock&Roll Hall of Fame. From consumer mobile applications to service design sprints for governments. Millions of happy users are what validates our work and those happy faces leave us craving for more.
We believe a great story easily beats the biggest of advertising budgets.Instead of spending big on ads, brands should engage their peers with great original content. We created Edgar to help them do that. It’s our own storytelling brand, named after the great storyteller Edgar Allan Poe.
Edgar soon got a life of its own. We won the StartupWeekend in Berlin in May 2013, got accepted in the AngelHack pre-accelerator and in January 2014 got our first investment from the Eleven Accelerator Venture Fund. Another investment round followed. And right after that, partnerships with organisations (National Geographic, Challenge:Future) and big advertising agencies (e.g. DDB).
We've been selected as one of the finalist at the Mini SeedCamp (Rijeka & Vienna), won first place at the BalkanVenture Forum and won second place at the SparkMe competition. We validated in the Valley for two months and demoed at TC Disrupt in San Francisco. After returning to Europe, we demoed at TC Disrupt in Berlin, at Pioneers in Vienna ("Roasted with Dave McLure") and won the finals at Pitching Competition at Slush in Helsinki.
